Built in Great Britain in 1917, the icebreaker Krasin has had an eventful, but difficult career. Originally named Svyatogor, after a mythical Russian warrior, the ship has lived up to this name, in terms of her power and heroic deeds. The oldest line icebreaker. The legendary ship.
Many historical events are connected with the name Krasin: exploration of the Arctic and the North Sea route, rescue of Umberto Nobilie’s expedition, the Polar convoys, ice steering of ships and provision of scientific research of the Arctic. Its last trip was a circumnavigation finished in 1943 and lasted 885 days.
Now the ship is placed in St. Petersburg and represents museum of World Ocean. Constant and temporary Exhibitions of the museum with all its facilities, technical equipment and navy objects, photo documents and artefacts of the ship life is a huge legacy which can be discovered by the visitors.
The visit can be extended with the caviar tasting, cocktail and choir of the Red Army.
